I am so happy to meet you! Well, Ok so I’m not really meeting you just yet, but I hope that you’ll want to reach out and connect with me more as you learn about me!
I started my health journey years ago as I became interested in natural healing, herbs, and things through my Aunt who worked at a health food store and just seemed to know everything about “natural stuff”. It always intrigued me but I never thought I would ever have the capacity to know as much as she did!
Fast foward to my teen years- I had a couple close adult friends/mentors in my life that planted some more seeds of interest in natural health. One of them was my youth leader who invited me to witness her home birth of her fourth child. This was remarkable to me, and left an impression.
Then there was a woman I worked for at my Dad’s business. Julianne was the most interesting, smart, cultured person I had ever met, and I think that stands to this day. She introduced me to so many amazing things, many of which were health related.
I struggled with some health issues in my teen years and early adult life. When I was a teenager I had developed a condition known as raynauds. It was debilitating, and I saw all sort of specialists, had tests done, and took medication but no one could help me. It just got worse and worse. In fact one specialist I saw said she had never seen a case as bad as mine. I had heard about this book called The Maker’s Diet and how it had helped a few people I knew. I read the book, and it changed the course of my life.
I began to see food as a beautiful tool, given to us by our maker to nourish our bodies, keep us healthy, and heal us. I started the diet plan. Life. Changed. Mind. Blown. I could not stop telling people about how to be healthier, I never looked at food the same way again. I introduced my friends and family to quinoa, grass fed beef, stevia, clean eating, elimination diets, and homeopathy. I was on fire and no one was gonna put me out.
When I got pregnant in 2009 I knew I wanted a natural birth. I had worked so hard to keep my body clean and was so happy about that. I just couldn’t see juicing up for birth and subjecting my baby to all that crap. So I took a class. We had a successful natural birth in a hospital.
A year and a half later I went through the training to be an instructor with my husband, and we had number two at a birth center. Since then we’ve helped more than 70 people learn about, and train for natural birth over the course of our 9 years of teaching and also had three more babies at home.(thats right, we have 5 altogether so far) I also doula for some of my friends, family and students occasionally.
As I moved into the next chapter of family life (while still keeping the child-bearing part open) We began to seek God’s will for us in the area of education. Long story short we have started homeschooling.
No need to stop there right? In 2016 I took my health journey even further by exploring supplements and how to bring further balance to my body as well as other people’s. I have been so excited for this new chapter to add to my story, and I hope you feel inspired to come along with me as I continue to learn and share with you!
Most recently I have had opportunity to begin pursuing Homeopathy as a profession of sorts. While studying under my own Homeopath as he gets ready to retire, I am able to take chronic cases and consult for people who are looking for a healthier, more holistic approach to their health. I truly am amazed at the scope of things Homeopathy can correct, I think that it may be one of the single greatest misconceptions about Homeopathy. When people think about natural medicine in general, I don’t think they put a lot of merit in it being able to deal with big issues, but rather the small stuff like colds and sore throats.
